ТЕПЛИЧНOE РАСТЕНИЕ (hothouse plant) is the result of Fette’s two month artist residency in Yekaterinburg. The exhibition runs from the 27th of December 2016 until the 19th of February 2017 at ‘Metenkov’s House’, the Russian Museum of Photography.

The exhibition centers around folding screens designed in mimicry of the walls of local Russian kiosks. These stalls—where people buy flowers, fruit and magazines—are reimagined in a play on gendered labor and hedonism. Fette reconfigures the kiosks through folkloric ritual, making them sites of something more than the mundane. These constructed spaces are designed to blur the lines between inside and outside. Inside, portraits of men. Outside, mirrored walls. The pieces are surrounded by pot plants, their forms repeated throughout the space. Patterns of green on green, reflections questioning and distorting the perspective of the viewer.
