(EN) Creating meaningful experiences, Berlin

(EN) Few neighborhoods illustrate Berlin’s transformative powers like the vibrant creative-hub, Kreuzberg.

(EN) This multi-cultural neighbourhood is alive with history, and as creatives have flocked to Berlin—Kreuzberg has become the heart of the arts community. This “Kiez” is the site of Freunde von Freunden’s latest metamorphosis: after the FvF Apartment in Berlin-Mitte that we created together with Vitra, in an industrial style factory we have opened a space that celebrates our global creative community: the Friends Space.

With the FvF Friends Space we envision a new space for not only our creative offices—but for our community and partners as well. With architect Philipp Mainzer, we set to design the 350 square meter space in a way that would enable the philosophy of FvF to grow.

(EN) Impressions

(EN) In recent years, we realised that we needed a larger space to gather and exchange knowledge and skills, and to nurture the creative ideas of our ever-growing FvF community. In 2016 we began the Friends Space, a design driven platform shaped by our connections and a desire to see them grow through dialogues with new and old friends.

(EN) Cases

(EN) The modular architecture allows the space to transform according to the users need: The Friends Space can host everything from intimate dinner events to larger workshops and cultural conventions. It is a space that facilitates conversation, allowing for synergies between contemporary art, design, and thinking amongst our international network.

(EN) Floorplan

(EN) The space is transformative and modular interests in contemporary art, modular architecture and inspired by our international connections.

The Friend Space can be used for both private and public gatherings: we sat down with creative minds to create a social space that is fully adaptable, providing new ways of bringing together both our creative network, and yours. The space is constantly evolving—we see the multipurpose area is a platform for ideas, a space to host and promote creative people and their work, and importantly—to share our own ideas on the future of urban spaces.

(EN) Scenarios

The Friends Space is designed to be fully adaptable to the diverse and often unexpected scenarios of everyday life, reflecting the lifestyle of a creative and agile generation.
