This week we’ve been reading about the Marni menswear collection challenging fashion to act on the climate crisis, the Pakistani library seeking to re-write Darra Adam Khel’s narrative, and how web designers are curtailing their carbon footprints.

    • i-D talks to designer Francesco Risso about his SS20 menswear show for Italian fashion house Marni. Dubbed a “creative call to arms” Marni’s show contributed to the fashion industry’s conversation around ethics and sustainability by presenting a Che Guevara and Truman Capote-inspired collection amidst a sea of plastic and industrial waste. .
    • According to a report by the global consultancy AT Kearney, in 2040 most meat will be grown in vats or made from plant-based products rather than slaughtered animals. Find out more on The Guardian.
    • The New York Times talks to Raj Muhammad, the founder of the Darra Adam Khel Library in Pakistan. Whilst the Darra Adam Khel area—located 86 miles west of Islamabad—is currently renowned for its sprawling weapons bazaar, literature-lover Muhammad hopes that his thriving library will help to change the town’s narrative.
    • A growing number of industries are trying to reduce or at least curtail carbon footprints and energy use. Now it’s time for web designers to join the cause. In this article, A List Apart looks at how you can estimate websites’ carbon footprints, how to reduce webpages’ CO2, and how the internet could actually be a climate savior.
    • Photographer Greg Lin Jiajie may be best known for his commercial work, but his self-directed projects also deserve attention according to It’s Nice That. In this article, he speaks about his recent series which captures his hometown of Fujian in southeast China, and why he thinks photography is “reminds us where we come from and enlightens where we are going.”
