Let’s take a deep breath, relax, and slow down for a minute.

Haven’t done that in a while? Well, in our contemporary world—with its high speed, many screens, and fast changes—sometimes it’s hard to concentrate on oneself. That’s why we decided to focus on well-being for issue 15 of Companion. We heard the story of journalist Kevin Braddock, who struggled to ask for help when he was suffering from depression and now wants to help others with his magazine Torchlight; we followed photographer Zara Pfeifer as she showed us around Vienna—a city is known for offering its residents a high quality of life; and we did some research on the most relaxing destinations for a quick spot of escapism.

There’s nothing more to it: grab a copy, find a cozy spot, and dive into this issue. We hope it might allow you to take a deep breath and enjoy a few relaxing minutes. At the very least, it’ll give you something stimulating to read—and isn’t that a kind of wellness, too?

The Science of Scent

The master perfumer Geza Schön created one of the best known fragrances of the last years—Molecule 01. He talked to Companian about the human sense of smell and how the aroma of a freshly baked cake might make you very happy.

Diving into The Forest

Carlos Ponte and his partner Emma Wisser are experts on the Japanese nature therapy “shinrin-yoku,” which means “bathing in the forest.” The fast growing trend aims to encourage people to experience nature with all of their senses. Jump in!

Good Night

As the head of an advertising company with a full schedule, Andrea Hoyer struggled to find sleep. After a few years of suffering, she decided that enough was enough. To fight against the plague of insomnia she launched her own skincare line that will help you fall asleep.
