Kyoko Hamada’s alter-ego Kikuchiyo-san  is the artist’s prediction of what her older self might be like. Her photographic series, “I Used To Be You” is a musing on individuality as is goes through the inevitable process of aging.

The project started when the artist’s eye was caught by a silver wig in Brooklyn back in 2012. Since snapping it up, Kyoko has been wearing it around town to see how it transforms her bodily form and mind—documenting the process along the way. With a juxtaposition between vibrant colors and the worn out mask of old age, the artist’s work is uncanny. Read more insights into her inspiration here.
